Overview
You 2 You was a startup concept designed to make peer-to-peer exchanges safer and more convenient. While platforms like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist allow people to buy and sell locally, many transactions occur in unsafe or uncomfortable environments, such as parking lots or private residences.
You 2 You proposed a new model: a platform where buyers and sellers could schedule exchanges at secure, designated meeting locations designed specifically for safe transactions.
I partnered with the founder during the early concept stage to create the company’s brand identity, visual system, and supporting materials used to communicate the idea to potential investors and collaborators.
The Problem
Peer-to-peer marketplaces are widely used, but safety concerns remain a common issue. Buyers and sellers often meet in unfamiliar locations, creating potential risks and uncertainty for both parties.
The challenge was to create a brand that communicated trust, safety, and simplicity, while still feeling approachable and accessible to everyday users. At the same time, the brand needed to support the development of a digital platform and provide clear materials that could help the founders present the concept to potential investors.
Goals
- Establish a trustworthy and recognizable brand identity
- Communicate safety and convenience as core brand values
- Design a digital platform concept for scheduling secure meetups
- Develop professional materials to support investor discussions
Brand Strategy
Early in the project, I worked closely with the founder to help shape the brand positioning and messaging. The goal was to present You 2 You as a practical solution to a real problem while maintaining a tone that felt friendly and accessible.
To support early business development efforts, I assisted with elements of the company’s marketing strategy and helped structure the visual layout of the business plan and investor materials. I also coordinated with an independent contractor who conducted market research on peer-to-peer marketplace behavior, helping inform the company’s positioning and messaging.

Brand Tagline
You 2 You
“Simplifying the way people exchange goods locally.”
This messaging emphasized both the simplicity of the platform and its focus on facilitating safe, direct exchanges between individuals.
Brand Identity System
The visual identity was designed to communicate reliability and trust while remaining approachable and modern. I developed a flexible brand system that could support both digital and physical applications, including the platform interface, marketing materials, and promotional content.
The system included:
- Primary and secondary logo variations
- A defined color palette designed to convey clarity and trust
- Typography selections for digital and print use
- Brand guidelines outlining logo usage, color application, and layout principles
- The goal was to create a cohesive identity that could scale as the platform and company grew.

Website & Marketplace Concept
To demonstrate how the brand would function in a real product environment, I designed a website concept for the platform. The interface combined familiar elements from existing marketplaces with a new feature that allowed users to schedule transactions at secure meetup locations.
The design focused on:
- Clear browsing and listing experiences
- Simple scheduling of secure exchange locations
- A clean interface that prioritized usability and trust
These mockups helped communicate how the platform could function in practice and provided developers with a visual direction for implementation.

Brand Applications
To support the early development of the company, I created a variety of brand applications that helped communicate the concept to both potential users and investors.

Investor Pitch Deck
I designed a presentation deck used by the founders to explain the business model, market opportunity, and product vision to potential investors.

Business Collateral
Printed materials, including business cards and a company brochure, were developed to support networking and early outreach efforts.

Signage
Several banners, posters, and large-scale graphics were created for outdoor promotional use.

Mobile Concept
We also developed a mobile app concept for scheduling local exchanges.
Outcome
The brand identity and supporting materials helped the founders clearly communicate their vision for the platform and present the concept to potential investors and collaborators.
By establishing a cohesive visual system early in the process, the brand provided a clear foundation for how the platform could evolve across digital products, marketing materials, and future expansion.
Key Takeaways
- A clear brand identity helped transform an early startup concept into a more tangible and communicable product vision.
- Designing the brand alongside the platform concept ensured visual consistency across marketing and product experiences.
- Strategic brand messaging played an important role in communicating the value of the idea to potential investors and stakeholders.
